When hired to be a Deputy by the Sheriff of Montgomery County you are initially trained by our instructors on the following: defensive and control tactics, firearms training, prisoner transport, handcuffing and searching of prisoners, baton training, working with chemical agents. After completing and passing the Sheriff’s required training, a Deputy must attend and pass further training given by the State of Pennsylvania (ACT II). This course is conducted at State College, PA and consists of a 19-week, 760-hour curriculum.
